Qian Hongyan was born in Luliang County of Yunnan Province in 1996. She lost her lower body in a car accident in 2000 when she was just 4 years old. She then used to walk with half of a basketball and two wooden handle bars to go to school. After Qian Hongyan s story was reported, China Rehabilitation Research Center decided to help her fit artificial limbs for free. Qian also took rehabilitating treatment in the rehabilitation center for 3 months in 2005. In 2007, she joined the South of the Clouds Swimming Club to learn to swim and dreams of competing at the London 2012 Paralympic Games. In 2010, She won three gold medals in the 13rd Yunnan Province Games and three silver medals in the Zhejiang National Swimming Championships for the Disabled. But she lost the opportunity to attend the London 2012 Paralympic Games, as her best record is the bronze medal in the SB6 100m Breaststroke at the 2011 National Games for the Disabled. I really want to attend the London Paralympic Games, Qian Hongyan said, but it s okay, I am very young, so I have a lot of opportunities, I am struggling for the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games, I will be there.
