This photograph, part of the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library, taken on February 23, 1962 shows President John F. Kennedy peering into a space capsule at the presentation ceremony of NASA Distinguished Service Medal (DSM) to Astronaut and Colonel John Glenn, Jr. at Cape Canaveral, Florida.
