VLADIVOSTOK, RUSSIA - JULY 14, 2020: The Sedov barque in the Golden Horn Bay. Russia s barque Sedov, a participant in a round-the-world expedition marking the 200th anniversary of the First Russian Antarctic Expedition by Fabian von Bellingshausen and Mikhail Lazarev and the 75th anniversary of the victory over Nazi Germany in WWII, has set off from the port of Vladivostok for a month mission in the Sea of Japan. The Sedov barque, originally built as a German cargo ship and named Magdalene Vinnen II, was launched in 1921 in Kiel, Germany. During WWII, the vessel formed part of the German reserve fleet; under the Potsdam Declaration, in December 1945, the vessel was handed over to the Soviet Union and renamed to Sedov honoring Russian Arctic TS0E00D6
