  • African architect Francis Kere poses for photographers on the occasion of the presentation of his exhibition Franis Kere. Primary Elements at the ICO Museum in Madrid, Spain, 03 October 2018. African most famous architect in the world Francis Kere s work is shown for first time in Spain in a free exhibition that will be open for the public from 03 October to 20 January 2019. Born in Gando, a small town in Burkina Faso, he could get a scholarship to study architecture in Germany and created the Kere Foundation to fund the construction of a primary school in his native town. Since then, Kere has continued refunding knowledge in Burkina Faso and other places in four different continents, creating innovative strategies that combine traditional building materials and methods with others engineering modern techniques. Kere leads the Berlin-based practice Kere Architecture. He is the 17th architect to accept the Serpentine Gallery s invitation to design a temporary Pavilion in its grounds. The Pavilion is open to the public from 23 June to 8 October 2017.
