According to the Truth Commission, part of the bones would be in the context of the Military Dictatorship in Brazil, between 1964 and 1985, which could hinder investigations into political disappears during the dictatorship. In the crosshairs, the Peruvian Cemetery can also store mortal remains of opponents of the regime who would have been tortured, killed and buried clandestinely in Perus, a cemetery located in the northern part of the state capital.
