It was painted by friend Arthur Wright. Feature on Douglas Ewart, a past president of the highly influential Association for the Advancement of Creative Artists (AACM) out of Chicago, who moved up here decades ago and has kept his hand in both the local and national jazz scenes. Ewart makes his own instruments, plays reeds and percussion and is highly connected.
