It went up for auction at Sotheby s in London, and was bought by Mr. M.A. Seymour for £42,000. The necklace, which was made in Paris, consists of nine magnificent emeralds arranged as drops from a diamond collar. The three centre emeralds alone weigh nearly 50 carats.
